ChangeLog
commit 208f4e9d6202c74aa1797ba76c44373f2b5ed077
Author: lucascouts <lucascs@protonmail.com>
Date: Sat Sep 5 16:28:10 2026 -0300
fix(app-editors/zed, net-libs/webkit-gtk): tags out of the DEPEND string, mod(app-office/libreoffice): close an automagic and document 6 divergences
Two things in one commit because they are the same edit: the libreoffice batch
is where the bug below was caught, and fixing it touches the same lines.
THE BUG, WHICH SHIPPED TWICE. A "#" inside DEPEND="..." is not a comment. It is
string content, and portage parses it as a package atom, so the whole depset
becomes unparseable:
InvalidDepend: failed parsing DEPEND: ... is unparseable:
flagged token- invalid package atom: '#'
I did this three times while writing divergence tags -- zed in 0922e3b48,
webkit-gtk in 8af0c3a7c, libreoffice here -- because a tag for the DEPEND axis
naturally wants to sit next to the atom it describes. The first two are already
pushed, so both shipped with broken depsets.
It survived every check I was running. `bash -n` passes; the string is valid
bash. egencache regenerates md5-cache without complaint. The parity sweep still
reports the package's axes. Only pkgcheck's Invalid* keywords catch it, and my
scan list did not include them.
And it HIDES other findings: while a depset is unparseable, pkgcheck stops
reporting NonsolvableDeps for that package, because the parser gives up first.
libreoffice's known ~arm problem vanished from the scan and returned the moment
this was fixed. A finding that disappears after a comment-only edit is a symptom
of this, not evidence of a fix.
Tags now sit above DEPEND= and name the atom in prose, each with a short note
saying why, so this is not re-derived. Verified across the WHOLE overlay:
pkgcheck -k InvalidDepend,InvalidRdepend,InvalidBdepend,InvalidPdepend reports
zero.
THE LIBREOFFICE BATCH, fifth of the divergence-tag pass. Six UNDOCUMENTED rows,
one real defect and one more 2018 fossil:
- AUTOMAGIC CLOSED. media-libs/libeot was in DEPEND with no --with-system-libeot
passed, and LibreOffice's configure.ac defines it through
libo_CHECK_SYSTEM_MODULE, whose default is autodetect. So the build used the
system copy when installed and bundled otherwise -- the same shape as the
gst-plugins-bad vulkan defect. Now passed explicitly. (::gentoo also passes
nothing, but has no dependency either, so theirs bundles predictably.)
- KEYWORD FOSSIL. ~amd64-linux, from 3406491f7 on 2018-11-05. ::gentoo has never
carried it on libreoffice in any version. Dropped, exactly as the gstreamer
prefix keywords were in 1bf05dedb.
- Documented: --with-system-abseil (::gentoo passes --without-), fast_float, the
svlockbytes backport (Gerrit 197842), and games-engines/box2d being ABSENT
here where ::gentoo depends on it -- >=26.8 wants the box2d 3.x API and
::gentoo's package is stuck at 2.4.x with no .pc file, so bundling is correct.
KNOWN AND DELIBERATELY LEFT OPEN: media-libs/libeot is keyworded only
amd64/x86/riscv, so a hard dependency makes libreoffice unresolvable on the arm,
arm64, loong and ppc64 keywords the 26.2 ebuild carries. The tag names the three
ways out and asks for a decision rather than guessing at one.
app-office/libreoffice and net-libs/webkit-gtk both report 0 UNDOCUMENTED.

commit 8af0c3a7c28303ef2127e801fd3332c99593e7f1

mod(net-libs/webkit-gtk): rename a patch to ::gentoo's name, document the 8 divergences
Second batch of the divergence-tag pass. Eight UNDOCUMENTED rows across the two
slots; one of them turned out not to be a divergence at all.
files/2.52.4-disable-nvidia-dmabuf.patch was BYTE-IDENTICAL to ::gentoo's
2.52.3-disable-nvidia-dmabuf.patch -- same content, different filename. That is
not a divergence to justify, it is noise that would have shown up in every sweep
from now on and invited someone to write a tag explaining a difference that does
not exist. Renamed to their name; the PATCHES axis stops reporting it. A patch
filename records when the patch was written, not which version it applies to, so
the older name is the correct one to converge on.
WHAT IS REAL, and now says so:
USE=webdriver, with a cross-slot blocker in DEPEND and RDEPEND. ::gentoo does
not expose this at all -- it hardcodes -DENABLE_WEBDRIVER=OFF in BOTH slots, so
WebKitWebDriver (the W3C automation endpoint, what chromedriver is to Chrome) is
simply unavailable there. The reason they switch it off rather than pick a slot
is that the binary has one fixed path and two slots shipping it collide at
merge. This overlay makes it a flag and resolves the collision with the blocker,
so the user picks a slot instead of losing the feature.
PATCHES: a 2.52.5 refresh of ::gentoo's 2.50.5-EventTarget-gcc16.patch (bug
970412), which they dropped at 2.52.5 and we kept. The refresh drops the patch's
second hunk because upstream added that include itself at 2.52.5 and eapply runs
`patch -f`, which would force a duplicate copy rather than skip the hunk. The
first hunk still applies clean against 2.52.6, so the forward declaration gcc16
objects to is still in the tree -- the patch is not redundant, whatever
::gentoo's reason for dropping it was.
Re-verified after the rename: all eight patches apply IN SEQUENCE against the
2.52.6 tarball, not merely in isolation.
net-libs/webkit-gtk now reports 8 JUSTIFIED, 0 UNDOCUMENTED, no stale tags.

mod(eclass/gstreamer-meson.eclass): rebase onto ::gentoo, mod(89 ebuilds): apply the parity audit
Executes the tracks in .epic/reports/agent-parity-audit/03-execution-plan.md.
The audit's single systemic cause: a version bump renames our own ebuild forward
and never re-reads ::gentoo, so every fix the distribution made to that revision
is discarded in silence. These are the discarded fixes.
PROVEN BROKEN, now fixed:
dev-python/gst-python: our pygobject patch is upstream 0496a778, already in the
tarball. Reproduced "3 out of 3 hunks FAILED" against real 1.28.6 sources, and
confirmed the line it adds already sits at gstpythonplugin.c:239. Dropped.
media-plugins/gst-plugins-webrtc: PATCHES pointed at the 1.24.10 patch, which
dies with "sctp Hunk #1 FAILED". ::gentoo's rebased 1.26.11 copy applies clean
to both 1.28.6 and 1.29.2 -- adopted. libnice floor 0.1.21 -> 0.1.23: upstream
needs 0.1.23 and BOTH trees were below it, so matching ::gentoo (0.1.22) would
have left the configure-time death standing.
net-libs/webkit-gtk-{r410,r600}: added 2.52.6-no-video.patch (FTBFS with
USE=-gstreamer) and 2.52.6-no-sse2.patch plus the SSE IUSE and the 17-line x86
block (bug 730044) -- we keyword ~x86 without the fix that makes ~x86 build.
Same pattern for ~ppc64: added it to the SKCMS_HAS_MUSTTAIL=0 guard (bug
970556). Both patches come from ::gentoo's copies of these same revisions.
dev-util/nvidia-cuda-toolkit: PYTHON_COMPAT ( 11..13 ) against a 3.14 profile
default made REQUIRED_USE unsatisfiable on EVERY profile on EVERY arch, not the
94 first reported -- PYTHON_TARGETS is set once in base/make.defaults. pkgcheck
RequiredUseDefaults goes from 762 profiles to 0. dev-python/gst-python and
media-libs/gstreamer-editing-services had the same defect; both moved to
( 12..14 ).
net-libs/nodejs-26.8.1: nghttp3 floor 1.15.0 -> 1.18.0 (upstream needs 1.18.0;
--shared-nghttp3 FTBFS below it) and ngtcp2 1.22.0 -> 1.22.1 (CVE-2026-40170).
THE ECLASS, which unblocks four of the above:
Rebased onto ::gentoo's, keeping exactly two additions, both tagged in the
header. (1) meson.options support: GStreamer 1.28.0 renamed meson_options.txt,
and ::gentoo's eclass reads the old name unconditionally -- measured, 1.28.6
ships only meson.options, so their copy would die in gstreamer_get_plugins on
all 153 gst-plugins-* here. (2) -Dtests=disabled on split plugins. Recovered
from ::gentoo in return: GST_PLUGINS_MULTILIB, the meson-1.4 BDEPEND, the
src_test guard, and correct "$" quoting.
SILENT CORRECTNESS:
media-libs/gst-plugins-bad had lost the entire vulkan USE flag. Worse than
"removed": the options still exist upstream at value: 'auto' and our eclass sed
extracts none of them (measured: 0 of 3, because they sit under a section
header neither pattern matches), so no -Dvulkan=disabled was emitted -- an
automagic dependency on vulkan-loader, not a disabled one. Restored ::gentoo's
GST_PLUGINS_NOAUTO + explicit meson_feature. Also fixed `rm -f ... || die`,
where -f makes the || die unreachable.
media-libs/gst-plugins-base hardcoded -Dtools=enabled on every ABI, so 32-bit
tools overwrite 64-bit ones in /usr/bin. Now $(meson_native_enabled tools) --
which needs `inherit meson-multilib`, as ::gentoo does; pkgcheck caught the
omission. Restored the libpng:0= subslot in the same file.
Subslot := restored on gst-plugins-{chromaprint,neon,soundtouch,webp} (8
ebuilds): without it portage never rebuilds the consumer on an ABI change.
KEYWORDS on 52 ebuilds: 1.28.6 carried 1.24.13's line verbatim, re-asserting
arm/arm64/ppc as STABLE on a version whose arch teams never signed off. Only
the monotonic rule was applied -- demote stable->testing where ::gentoo did not
stabilise, never promote. Note the 1.29.2 ebuilds are already all-~; blanket
"align with ::gentoo" there would have STABILISED a masked development series.
The comparison must also be against ::gentoo's newest (1.26.11): against the
union of all their versions it yields zero hits, because 1.24.13 is where the
carry-forward came from.
SUPPLY CHAIN:
verify-sig restored on the 8 packages ::gentoo verifies (16 ebuilds). All 8 .asc
URLs return 200; Manifests regenerated one explicit target at a time. Not 9 as
first reported -- gst-plugins-libav has no verify-sig in ::gentoo either.
sys-firmware/edk2: added edk2-202608-fix-gic-hvf.patch. We keyword ~arm64 and
build ArmVirtQemu.dsc without the ArmVirtPkg GIC series ::gentoo applies to the
same 202608 release. The OpenSSL 3.5.7-vs-3.5.8 question is deliberately NOT
touched here: it is a judgement call, not a bug.
TEXTS THAT STATED THE OPPOSITE OF REALITY -- all seven, each re-verified live:
x11-base/xwayland claimed test/{sync,damage,bigreq}/ do not exist in 24.1.x. The
GitLab API returns 200 for all three at tag xwayland-24.1.13 and 404 only for
test/pyxtest/. The dependency is still right, for the half of the reason that
survived.
dev-games/godot x2 claimed master still carries the unguarded calls with no PR.
Upstream 2e26ab8a3afb (2026-08-28) touches exactly the two files these patches
guard. Marked DROP-at-next-bump, explicitly not rebase.
dev-util/spirv-tools described an -r1 and an EGIT_COMMIT that no longer exist;
kept the mechanism, which still applies. dev-util/vulkan-tools omitted that the
same edit deleted test? ( dev-cpp/gtest ). www-client/chromium said slot 22 was
"enabled" -- 2ff7214ee narrowed ( 21 22 ) to ( 22 ), a substitution that leaves
an LLVM-21-only system unable to build chromium at all; flagged as an open
decision rather than silently reworded.
VERIFICATION
Every claim above is executed evidence except one: the webkit-gtk patches have
not had a patch --dry-run, because the tarball is not in DISTDIR. They are
byte-identical to ::gentoo's for the same revisions, which is strong, but it is
not a run.
egencache with --repositories-configuration and an explicit 96-package filter;
collateral checked and benign. pkgcheck one target at a time with --cache=-git;
what remains is pre-existing or inherited (::gentoo reports the same 16
RequiredUseDefaults on webkit-gtk). No build was merged -- this host has no
sudo, so nothing here claims a merge-tested pass.

mod(net-libs/webkit-gtk): refresh the EventTarget gcc16 patch against 2.52.5
2.50.5-EventTarget-gcc16.patch no longer matched the sources it is applied to.
Both hunks FAIL outright at fuzz 0; they only landed because eapply runs
`patch -p1 -f -g0` with no -F0, so GNU patch's default fuzz of 2 papered over
the drift. That is the ceiling — one more shifted context line and src_prepare
breaks. It matters more now that autoupdate bumps this package unattended:
--apply never runs src_prepare (pkgdev only fetches and digests the distfile),
so a patch failure would land in the overlay looking healthy and only surface
when someone emerges it.
The second hunk was worse than stale, it was wrong: it adds
#include <WebCore/EventTargetInlines.h>
to WebKitDOMEvent.cpp, and 2.52.5 already carries that include. eapply's
`patch -f` does not skip an already-applied hunk, so with fuzz it forced a
duplicate copy of the line. Harmless in C++, but nobody intended it.
The first hunk is still needed: the redundant `class EventTarget;` forward
declaration it removes is still in EventTarget.h, and this host builds with
gcc 16.1.1 — the compiler the patch exists for (bugs.gentoo.org/970412).
So the patch is regenerated from the real 2.52.5 tree with only that hunk, and
renamed to match the version it was refreshed against, as was done for
2.52.4-disable-nvidia-dmabuf.patch. Both SLOTs referenced the old file and both
are updated.
Verified against an unpacked webkitgtk-2.52.5 tarball: the new patch applies
with `patch -p1 -F0` (exit 0) where the old one failed both hunks, and every
other patch in both ebuilds' PATCHES arrays still applies at fuzz 0 — except
2.50.4-prefer-pthread.patch, which needs fuzz 2 but is byte-identical to
::gentoo's copy, so it is left alone rather than diverged from upstream.
Manifest regenerated: unchanged, as expected for a thin manifest when only
FILESDIR content moves.

fix(app-editors/zed, net-libs/webkit-gtk): tags out of the DEPEND string, mod(app-office/libreoffice): close an automagic and document 6 divergences
The tag names the three
ways out and asks for a decision rather than guessing at one.
app-office/libreoffice and net-libs/webkit-gtk both report 0 UNDOCUMENTED.

mod(net-libs/webkit-gtk): rename a patch to ::gentoo's name, document the 8 divergences
Second batch of the divergence-tag pass. Eight UNDOCUMENTED rows across the two
slots; one of them turned out not to be a divergence at all.
files/2.52.4-disable-nvidia-dmabuf.patch was BYTE-IDENTICAL to ::gentoo's
PATCHES: a 2.52.5 refresh of ::gentoo's 2.50.5-EventTarget-gcc16.patch (bug

::gentoo's rebased 1.26.11 copy applies clean
to both 1.28.6 and 1.29.2 -- adopted. libnice floor 0.1.21 -> 0.1.23: upstream
needs 0.1.23 and BOTH trees were below it, so matching ::gentoo (0.1.22) would
have left the configure-time death standing.
net-libs/webkit-gtk-{r410,r600}: added 2.52.6-no-video.patch (FTBFS with
USE=-gstreamer) and 2.52.6-no-sse2.patch plus the SSE IUSE and the 17-line x86
block (bug 730044) -- we keyword ~x86 without the fix that makes ~x86 build.
Same pattern for ~ppc64: added it to the SKCMS_HAS_MUSTTAIL=0 guard (bug
970556). Both patches come from ::gentoo's copies of these same revisions.
dev-util/nvidia-cuda-toolkit: PYTHON_COMPAT ( 11..13 ) against a 3.14 profile
default made REQUIRED_USE unsatisfiable on EVERY profile on EVERY arch, not the
94 first reported -- PYTHON_TARGETS is set once in base/make.defaults. pkgcheck
RequiredUseDefaults goes from 762 profiles to 0. dev-python/gst-python and
media-libs/gstreamer-editing-services had the same defect; both moved to
( 12..14 ).
net-libs/nodejs-26.8.1: nghttp3 floor 1.15.0 -> 1.18.0 (upstream needs 1.18.0;
--shared-nghttp3 FTBFS below it) and ngtcp2 1.22.0 -> 1.22.1 (CVE-2026-40170).
GST_PLUGINS_NOAUTO + explicit meson_feature. Also fixed `rm -f ... || die`,
where -f makes the || die unreachable.
media-libs/gst-plugins-base hardcoded -Dtools=enabled on every ABI, so 32-bit
tools overwrite 64-bit ones in /usr/bin. Now $(meson_native_enabled tools) --
which needs `inherit meson-multilib`, as ::gentoo does; pkgcheck caught the
omission. Restored the libpng:0= subslot in the same file.
Subslot := restored on gst-plugins-{chromaprint,neon,soundtouch,webp} (8
ebuilds): without it portage never rebuilds the consumer on an ABI change.
Upstream 2e26ab8a3afb (2026-08-28) touches exactly the two files these patches
guard. Marked DROP-at-next-bump, explicitly not rebase.
dev-util/spirv-tools described an -r1 and an EGIT_COMMIT that no longer exist;
kept the mechanism, which still applies. dev-util/vulkan-tools omitted that the
same edit deleted test? ( dev-cpp/gtest ). www-client/chromium said slot 22 was
"enabled" -- 2ff7214ee narrowed ( 21 22 ) to ( 22 ), a substitution that leaves
an LLVM-21-only system unable to build chromium at all; flagged as an open
decision rather than silently reworded.
VERIFICATION
Every claim above is executed evidence except one: the webkit-gtk patches have
not had a patch --dry-run, because the tarball is not in DISTDIR. They are
byte-identical to ::gentoo's for the same revisions, which is strong, but it is
not a run.
egencache with --repositories-configuration and an explicit 96-package filter;
collateral checked and benign. pkgcheck one target at a time with --cache=-git;
what remains is pre-existing or inherited (::gentoo reports the same 16
RequiredUseDefaults on webkit-gtk). No build was merged -- this host has no

mod(net-libs/webkit-gtk): refresh the EventTarget gcc16 patch against 2.52.5
2.50.5-EventTarget-gcc16.patch no longer matched the sources it is applied to.
#include <WebCore/EventTargetInlines.h>
to WebKitDOMEvent.cpp, and 2.52.5 already carries that include.
